Cockatoo Island

Cockatoo Island is located in Sydney Harbour with spectacular views all around and full of history. The island is a fantastic trip for families and those that are interested in the early settlement of Australia.

The island is a UNESCO World Heritage site because of its historical importance serving as a penal establishment, Australia’s largest shipyard, and a girl’s reformatory facility.

The best way to get to and from Cockatoo Island is by public ferry. You can get a guide from the visitors centre and wander around educating yourself or hire an audio set.

The island is a great destination for kids.
